National Triathlon Training Camp
Team History In 1986, the National
Triathlon Training Camp introduced a unique
bi-level racing team, composed of a "Pro/Elite Team" and a "Club
Team." The team, led by such triathlon stars as Mike
Pigg, Jan Ripple, Chris Hinshaw, Paula Johnson, Harold Robinson,
and Garrett McCarthy became an instant success, offering sponsors a
high-visibility, national-level promotional opportunity. In its first eight years,
the team recorded over 190 wins and 650
top-10 finishes to become the most successful triathlon

In 2006, the team returned after an 11-year hiatus. Racing under the banner Team Sport Beans/NTTC, the six-member Pro/Elite Team notched 10 wins and 25 top-10 finishes. In 2007, the Pro/Elite Team expanded to eight members and recorded 18 wins and 47 top-10 finishes.
National media coverage of the team has included television on NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, Versus (OLN), and FOX Sports Net (formerly Prime Network), plus radio and print, including Sports Illustrated, Reader's Digest, Triathlete Magazine, Inside Triathlon, and Runner's World to name a few. The team has also received regular and extensive regional coverage on the front pages of sports sections in newspapers and magazines as well as on local television and radio nationwide. Three times the team has been featured in a four page, color poster that was bound into Triathlete Magazine.
2008 Team
In 2008, Team Sport Beans/NTTC, will again have eight pro triathletes on the Pro/Elite Team. These athletes, among the best in the sport, are not only represtenting the team at races nationwide and worldwide, but will also be working on staff at NTTC camp and clinic events. Our Club Team is open to everyone! Members receive an official team T-shirt made of Coolmax® high-performance fabric, a team issue run singlet and cycling cap from Champion System, team issue swim cap from TYR, Sport Beans™ samples and water bottle, Jelly Belly visor, and other freebies, as well as a subscription to the team newsletters and discounts on a full line of team apparel, equipment, and nutritional supplements. Members are also eligible to sign up for NTTC's online coaching and will receive discounts on attending NTTC camps, clinics, and tours. We expect this team to swell to hundreds and then thousands of triathletes in the years ahead.
